MISSION
The adult education programming is
designed to provide educational settings that meet the spiritual needs
of the members of our diverse congregation; to give the congregation
opportunities to deepen and broaden their faith by study of the Bible
and the theology of the Presbyterian Church, and to encourage them to
apply their understanding to the moral and social issues of
contemporary society, as mandated by our denomination.
ADULT
CLASSES (Sundays at 10:00 - 10:50 a.m.)
THE
ED SELL BIBLE CLASS - SOUTHMINSTER HOUSE
Led by lead teachers, this class
follows the Uniform Series Bible Study. A place for weekly fellowship,
hymns, and a lecture style presentation. ADULT SEMINAR - Chapel Coming in January 2012: FORMATION FOR FAITHFUL FAMILY LIVING
Do you like change? How many of you had perfect parents?
Have you found your marriage to be easier than you thought?
These are just some of the many questions that we will be discussing
during the Formation for Faithful Family Living series starting on January 8, 2012
during Adult Church school in the Chapel at 10 AM. Often
the church does a good job of marrying people but then gives them
little more guidance along the way of marriage and life. This
series of classes is designed to help people who are in the midst of
becoming married, raising children, saying good-bye to older children
and dealing with the complexities of family living. In other
words it is for everyone! We will discuss these issues by studying parts of the five book series “Family Living in Pastoral Perspective” by Herbert Anderson and others. In one of the books Mr. Anderson states the following: “Change
in never easy. Neither is it always positive. It is,
however, inevitable. Everything that lives changes. People
change as they grow up and grow older. And because people change,
families change as well. The family is never fixed. And
marriage is a work in progress. It is always in the process of
becoming something new. The natural transitions that occur during
a family’s history make change the norm rather than the
exception. It is generally agreed that the ability to adapt to
change in creative and flexible ways is a mark of family vitality.”
You are invited to attend this series of 12 classes. Each class
will stand alone with separate teachings but the more you can attend
the more they will all build on one another to help in our day to day
living out of our family lives. These classes are open to members
and friends of our church so invite a friend to come with you!
SPIRITUALITY AND PRAYER GROUP
Still waters run
deep.
In other words, depth and stillness go together. Adults at Southminster
can come together to listen for
God’s voice in new ways in the Spirituality and Prayer
group which meets each Thursday in the Parlour at Noon.
