The
committees listed on this page include those that administer and
oversee the church operations. Their role is to help keep the church
running effectively and efficiently so it can be successful in doing
the Lord's work.
COMMUNICATIONS
COMMITTEE:
This committee is responsible for communications within the
Southminster congregation and outward to the greater community, for the
purpose of facilitating ongoing involvement of our membership and
promoting awareness of our mission and work in the community. This
committee develops and maintains the Southminster website and various
printed materials. Volunteers are welcome.
ENDOWMENT
COMMITTEE:
The purpose of the Endowment Fund is to provide an additional source of
significant income to enable Southminster to continue its exceptional
and innovative ministry, both with its own membership and beyond.
Committee members are elected by the congregation.
LONG RANGE
PLANNING:
This committee organizes the annual planning process. The Plan contains
two parts. The first is the description of the goals of the
Commission/Committee and the methods to achieve them. The second is the
budget needed to meet the goals. Long Range Planning compiles these
individual budgets for Session to consider. Upon completion of the
Stewardship campaign, Session evaluates the pledging results, modifying
the budget requests as necessary, and finalizes the budget for the new
year.
NOMINATIONS
COMMITTEE:
This Committee creates a slate of Church officers (Elder and Deacons)
as well as members-at-large to serve on the Nominations Committees for
the following year. The Nominations Committee may also form a Search
Committee to help select a permanent or interim minister. Committee
members are elected by the congregation.
PERSONNEL
COMMITTEE:
The Personnel Committee is responsible for reviewing, evaluating and
meeting, within budgetary constraints, the personnel requirements of
all the administrative and operating functions of the Church. Its
duties include reviewing and revising personnel policies as
appropriate, and overseeing the performance evaluation, compensation,
job responsibilities and transition of personnel.
SESSION
(ELDERS):
The Session is responsible for setting policy for the church and for
overseeing operations of the church. The Senior Pastor reports to
Session. Session is elected by the congregation. Click here to read the
minutes of Session meetings.
STEWARDSHIP
COMMISSION:
The Stewardship Commission provides the means by which the congregation
can participate in the financial maintenance and growth of
Southminster's ministry. The Commission also informs the membership of
the continued fiscal needs of the church and its mission.
TRUSTEES:
The
Board of Trustees has the legal responsibility for managing and
operating the Church corporation, and further shall have the
responsibility to maintain, repair and operate all Church property,
review and oversee finances and audits and assist, and render advice
to, the Church staff in connection with the management of the business
affairs of the Church and the maintenance and repair of all Church
properties. The Trustees are elected by the congregation and are
members of Session.
