THE GOOD NEWS


Please tell the Church office when you have news. The Church attempts to include it in the Good News or the Sunday bulletin. Contact Mary Cullison at the Church office or via    if you have something you'd like to submit for the Good News or a Sunday Bulletin.
Deadlines: 

  • Sunday Bulletins: Noon Tuesday before the Sunday you'd like it to be included.
  • Please submit materials by the first Monday of the month prior to publication.   The Good News is not published in July or August.

 

Sunday Worship Schedule 
Join us on Sunday mornings as the Southminster community of faith gathers for fellowship, education and worship. All are welcome!

    10:00 a.m. -    Church School for ALL Ages!

Hunger Offering Received Sunday, January 8
Through our involvement with Family Promise (formerly Interfaith Hospitality Network) we are able to provide support and hope to families struggling through a time of homelessness. Our Hunger Offering will be received on Sunday, January 8, and will help defray food costs of this important ministry.

Coming January 8, 2012: FORMATION FOR FAITHFUL FAMILY LIVING
Join us on Sunday mornings at 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel for the Adult Seminar series, Formation for Faithful Family Living. This series of classes is designed to help people who are in the midst of becoming married, raising children, saying good-bye to older children and dealing with the complexities of family living.  In other words it is for everyone! Christian Education Programs 
Adult Christian Education - We encourage all adults to join us at 9:50 a.m. Sunday mornings in the class that best suits your spiritual needs.

Sell Bible Class
The Sell Bible Class is a welcoming group that enjoys a weekly Bible study and fellowship.  The Sell class meets in Southminster House and is led by Pastor Ken White and Fred Barnes, along with others.
 
Adult Discipleship/Spiritual Growth class is led by Pastor Dan, Pastor Ken, Pastor Debbie, and Fred Barnes. We are reading through the Year of the Bible! We hope you are reading along as we are committing ourselves to becoming re-acquainted with the Bible and with one another. Our Sunday morning class is an interactive discussion led by one of our pastors pertaining to the week’s readings. Join us for this life-changing experience.

Adult Interest Center (AIC) 
What is AIC? AIC offers entertainment, information, fellowship, and a delicious meal for older adults in the greater South Hills community. Programs are held on Fridays (September through June), begin at 11:00 a.m., and are free and open to all. Lunch is served at noon (cost is $6.00 for lunch, no reservations necessary), followed by games and cards at 1:00 p.m. For further information, contact AIC Director Carla Campbell at 412-343-8900 Ext. 311.

SOUTHMINSTER RECYCLES!  Bright green and yellow containers - called Abitibi Paper Retrievers® - are now located in the Southminster Parking Lot. In an effort to lessen the load on our landfills and to be good stewards of God’s beautiful creation, we are inviting you to join us in paper recycling. Please collect your magazines, shopping catalogs, newspaper, office and school papers and mail and get in the habit of dropping them off in the bins on Sunday mornings or when you visit the church or library.
