A Christ Centered... Intentionally Missional Congregation
A Rich Tradition... A Transforming Future
Youth Ministry Mission Statement
Our mission is to promote the spiritual development of young people by pointing to Christ. We respond to the spiritual needs of our youth through church fellowship, Biblical teaching, relative programs, activities, and events. Our goal is to create an environment where youth can express their faith using their own words, actions and deeds. Furthermore, we will encourage them to use their individual talents to serve God’s will.

Service, Sabbath & Study
The 2019 trip will be organized around the themes of Service, Sabbath, and Study as follows:

Service:        We will spend a week in Crișcior, Romania at Casa Emanuel Home. Here will we lead a VBS, share in the life and activities of the children at the home, and also complete various facilities and maintenance projects around the home such as painting and landscaping.

Sabbath:      Drawing on the traditions of Christian pilgrimage, we will hike portions of the Lutherweg (The Luther Trail) in Germany and reflect on our Christian faith as a journey.

Study:           We will visit several historical sites which were significant in the life of Martin Luther and the Reformation – Erfurt, Stotternheim, Eisleben, Wartburg, Eisenach, and Wittenberg.
Men's Shelter
SOJO is invited to prepare and serve breakfast at the East Liberty Men’s Shelter once a month.  This opportunity to serve brings together the Southminster family of all ages.  Contact Jeff Bragdon (412) 600-4675 if you are interested in joining the team.  Carpools meet in the upper parking lot promptly at 6 a.m. and return to the church in time for Church School Hour.  Out-of-school community service hours can be granted.
