Hello Southminster Youth and Parents,

We have a lot coming up this summer.  We will be heading out to Mexico on missions for the Sr. High (July 10th – 18th).  For the Jr. High we will be heading out to Crestfield Camp and Conference Center for some local mission work (June 21st – 26th).  We will also be going to the Alive Festival with the Sr. High (www.alive.org June 17th – 20th).  Who knows what else we might get into this summer.  Please be praying about each of these trips. 

The Sr. High missions will be to Reynosa Mexico where we will be serving the local people in construction projects throughout the week.  We are working through Presbyterian Border Missions.  While things are going quite smoothly in preparing for the trip, and I’m sure it will be a good and useful trip, we still would not want to go without the prayers of the church.  Please remember us and the people we are serving.

For the Jr. High we are going to Crestfield.  This will be my first time to Crestfield, but I look forward to it very much.  We are doing what is called “Mission Possible” for younger students.  I have talked with groups that have done this in the past and they tell me the youth truly love the experience and it is worth while.  While at camp the students will be serving the local community as well as the camp.  At the same time they will be experiencing the camp environment.  This is a great place for the youth to invest in others and for us to invest in the youth. 

Alive is a unique chance this summer for the youth to get out and enjoy live Christian bands and speakers.  In many ways this is a place to just let loose.  While we will hear from excellent speakers and enjoy some great bands, this will truly be a place where the youth can bond and hang out.  We will be there with Westminster church and share our space and meals with their group.  At the park where we will stay is a lake, places to play games like volleyball, soccer, or just hang out.  We will sleep in tents and eat off the grill. 

I am glad to be part of this church and watch it grow.  I have seen first hand the joy put behind serving the youth and supporting them.  I know we will need help in providing some of these opportunities.  At the very least I hope that you lift this group of young people in prayer.
